FOSTREAT
is a dry powdered phosphate based treatment used to precipitate
calcium hardness as a non adherent sludge. Fostreat is a
free-flowing white powder which is readily soluble in water.
PURPOSE
When
fostreat is added to the boiler water under proper conditions it
supplies the necessary phosphate to chemically react with
calcium hardness to prevent the formation calcium carbonate,
sulphate and/or silicate scales. The reaction between calcium
and phosphate produces a finely divided non adherent sludge
(calcium phosphate)which remains suspended in the boiler water
and removed through blowdown.
ADVANTAGES
1. Scale
problems eliminated. Sludge problems greatly reduced.
2. Easily dissolves in water to prepare feed solutions.
3. 100 % active material.
4. Dry product minimizes shipping cost.
5. Feed solutions up to one pound per gallon possible.
FEED
REQUIREMENTS
FOSTREAT
is used in controlled amount so as to maintain a free phosphate
residual in the boiler water. The control limits for phosphate
normally are in the 20 to 60 ppm range. Exact parameters will be
sent by our representative for your installation. The feed rate
for FOSTREAT will vary depending upon the calcium hardness of
the make up water.
METHOD OF
FEEDING
Dissolve
in warm water and slug feed intermittently to the boiler feed
water line or with a continuous feed pump to the boiler.
Fostreat can be mixed with other treatment chemicals used for
internal treatment. Material of construction of the feed
equipment are not critical, but dissimilar metals should be
avoided.
STORAGE
AND HANDLING
Store in a
dry place, keep container closed when not in use. Avoid contact
with skin. Wash with large quantities of water. In case of
contact with eyes, treat with large volumes of water and see a
physician.
DOSAGE
CHART FOR ROCHEM FOSTREAT
1. Find
your boiler operating pressure on left.
2. Find your phosphate test results as ppm PO4 across the top.
3. Read across from your operating pressure until you reach the
column with your ppmPO4 results. This square will give you the
correct dosage of Rochem Fostreat to reach the correct
protection for your boiler.
